▸ Q: IS SPECIAL LIGHTING REQUIRED?
▷ Unlike typical photography, no special lighting is required with our Pro 3D Camera. We use high dynamic range (HDR) to balance light levels so the Space looks balanced and consistent. Our completely automated vision processing pipeline also performs white balancing, color correction, and automatic panorama stitching so no image postprocessingis required on your part.
▸ Q: CAN I CAPTURE OUTDOOR AREAS?
▷ Yes! Our Pro 3D Camera can capture exterior areas with 360° Views. 360° Views are spherical 2D panorama images that users can view in all different directions. 360° Views can be seen through 3D along with the rest of your 3D Virtual Tours. However, a 360º View is not aligned like a normal scan. Creating 3D Virtual Tours while outside (such as creating a path to a guest house) is not supported. However, some users have had success scanning gardens and patios when there is no direct sunlight (such as at dawn or dusk).
▸ Q: HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SCAN A TYPICAL 3D VIRTUAL TOUR ?
▷ On average, it takes about 45 minutes to scan 1,000 square feet (93 meters squared), so a typical 2,000 square feet (186 meters squared) property can be scanned in about 60 to 90 minutes. Scan time can vary based on the complexity of the location and other factors. For example, open commercial real estate properties with less geometric detail can often be scanned more quickly than heavily occluded spaces like MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) rooms.
▸ Q: IS THERE A LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF SCANS IN A SPACE? WHAT IS THE MAXIMUM SCANNABLE PROPERTY SIZE?
▷ Our Pro 3D Camera models up to 200 scans can be processed successfully. This is more than enough for most residential properties — 200 scans can typically cover about 10,000 square feet (930 meters squared). Models larger than 200 scans can be uploaded, but are not guaranteed to process successfully. For large properties (such as multiple floors of a commercial building) we divide into regions and create a separate 3D model for each region.
▸ Q: CAN I USE 3D VIRTUAL TOURS IN CAD SOFTWARE LIKE REVIT ® OR RECAP ™ ?
▷ Yes! You can download an industry-standard OBJ file from any Space, which contains both 3D mesh and textures. If you are using your 3D data for modeling, you can also retrieve a colored point cloud generated from your 2D and 3D data.
▸ Q: CAN I EXPORT 2D PHOTOGRAPHY FROM 3D VIRTUAL TOURS?
▷ Yes! We can capture 2D photography in several resolutions for use in online photo galleries.
▸ Q: CAN I USE MY 3D VIRTUAL TOURS TO CREATE VIDEOS?
▷ Sorry, there is no direct way to create a video of your 3D Virtual Tours. However, you can use screen recording software to record your computer’s screen while you explore the 3D Virtual Tour. Then combine this footage with music, live action shots, drone footage, etc to make a complete marketing video that you can upload YouTube or Vimeo.
▸ Q: CAN I HIGHLIGHT KEY FEATURES, MAKE PUNCH-LISTS, OR ADD OTHER INFORMATION TO MY 3D VIRTUAL TOURS ?
▷Yes! We can annotate your 3D Virtual Tours with helpful descriptions, call-outs, prices, or links to other resources like spec sheets, punchlists, or additional information.
▸ Q: CAN I CREATE FLOOR PLANS FROM MY 3D VIRTUAL TOURS ?
▷Yes, you can order black-and-white Schematic Floor Plans for your 3D Virtual Tours for only $40.
▸ Q: WHICH BROWSERS ARE COMPATIBLE WITH 3D VIRTUAL TOURS?
▷ 3D Virtual Tours work on any browser that supports WebGL – the modern standard for 3D content on the web. Browsers, include:
- Firefox 4 or later
- Chrome 9 or later
- IE 11 or later, with Windows 8 or later

▸ Q: HOW DO I EMBED 3 D VIRTUAL TOURS IN A WEBSITE?
▷ Embed 3D Virtual Tour the same way you embed a YouTube video with a simple iframe. You can add it yourself, or ask your webmaster to add it for you. Embedding a Space is straightforward and similar to embedding a YouTube video.
▸ Q: CAN 3D VIRTUAL TOURS BE VIEWED ON VIRTUAL REALITY SYSTEMS?
▷ Yes! VR is currently available for free on a variety of virtual reality systems, including:
- Samsung Gear VR
- Google Cardboard
- Google Daydream (through WebVR)
▸ Q: CAN I CREATE FLOOR PLANS FROM MY 3D VIRTUAL TOURS?
▷ Yes, you can order black-and-white Schematic Floor Plans for your 3D Virtual Tours for an additional price.
